About Jo-Ellen Linkow
Jo-Ellen's life in art began at the age of 18 months when her mother discovered drawings of small figures and animals on the wall behind her crib. New coats of paint created 'wall canvas' where new figures and animals would appear days later. From there Jo-Ellen advanced to calculating whether or not to color inside or outside the lines, and eventually into creating lines of her own...
Her first public displays of original art began in elementary school and sprang forward to include awards from: The Great Frederick Fair at age 10, The Smithsonian Institution for Mesozoic Era Dinosaur Poster Design at age 13, various county & Maryland State Youth Art Program awards, and a national award from The Animal Protection Institute after graduation from college, where she served as Art Club President. Her art was initially shown in galleries throughout Maryland, including The Delaplaine Visual Arts Center, The Weinberg Center, Montpelier Cultural Art Center, and solo exhibits at venues such as BORDERS Books & More. Jo-Ellen had also made appearances on local television, and traveled to New York City to appear on the national morning program Breakfast Time shown on national cable channel, FX. Jo-Ellen's art has also shown in Virginia, West Virginia, New Mexico, Pennsylvnia, New Jersey, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Her works have sold in all 50 states and 9 countries with questionable taste... according to the artist. Currently, Jo-Ellen resides near Myrtle Beach, SC where she is inspired to use the uniquely vivid natural light in her creations. Recent exhibitions include several Waccamaw Arts & Crafts Guild Annual Juried Shows at 'The Franklin G. Burroughs - Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum' in Myrtle Beach, SC , "A Tribute To Women " Art Exhibit Benefit for the American Cancer Society, and 'The Franklin Square Gallery' in Southport, NC as well as local and national exhibits.
Jo-Ellen's artistic explorations have traveled her from the big apple of New York City to the lion heart of the United Kingdom as well as places oft uniquely seen, which she hopes to capture with the tip of her pencil and the stroke of her brush. We hope that you enjoy your own journey in each and every Jo-Ellen artwork you may see. Thank You. ~ Jo-Ellen @JoEllenart
